A year of learning and experimentation yields new work ---and a studio sale in September 2021.

2021 was a year of experimentation as Rosenstein worked (in her private studio at Lillstreet Art Center in Chicago) with a new material: porcelain paper clay. Adding cellulose fibers to the clay gives it additional strength for building sculptural forms and, since the paper burns out in the kiln firing, the remaining porcelain is lighter too.. Below are photos of Rosenstein's new sculptural work in progress.

Lillstreet Art Center was closed in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Classes have been in session, both virtual and in-person, since July 2020, and studio artists have been working in their private studios throughout this period of time. All persons entering Lillstreet Art Center have been and must remain masked for the safety and well-being of everyone.

It is a pleasure to announce that the Annual Ravenswood Art Walk will return to the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago, anchored by Lillstreet Art Center at the corner of Ravenswood and Montrose Avenues. The Art Walk will take place on September 11 and 12, 2021.

This porcelain paper clay sculpture has been bisque fired to remove all the moisture from the clay, and underglaze dots have been applied to create an overall patterned effect. When the pattern painting is complete, the piece will receive a spray coating of clear glaze and return to the kiln for a second firing... stay tuned for the final results.
