Porcelain Serving Tray with Multi-Layered Chinese Rice Paper Transfer Patterns

This large oval hand-built porcelain tray has been painted with pink slip (liquid clay with a stain) and has a stencil pattern applied with pink and red underglaze over the slip. Red and black cut-out Chinese decals in a floral pattern are the third layer of decoration. Orange underglaze flowers and blue-green underglaze leaves have been hand-painted, and gold luster completes the final layer of the joyfully patterned piece.

All of the surfaces are fired with a clear glaze. It is advisable to wash by hand.
